Enchanted Rock reservations, fees and hours

Enchanted Rock reservations, fees and hours

Reserve a day pass in advance if you want to secure park entry, especially during the busier months from September through May. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) says day passes can be reserved up to 30 days ahead; the park may turn away visitors without reservations when it reaches capacity.

The fee is $8 per person per day for visitors age 13 and older, while children 12 and under enter free. Online day-pass purchases are limited to eight people per vehicle and two vehicles per arrival date. A pass guarantees entry to the park, but not access to a particular day-use area or parking lot.

The park is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the entrance gate is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Backcountry hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; get a permit at headquarters before entering the backcountry. Hours, fees and reservation rules can change, so check the official site before you go.

Facilities, preparation and park rules

Bring your own drinking water because water is in short supply at the park. TPWD recommends carrying 32 ounces of water per hour of activity, preparing for sun and heat, wearing appropriate clothing and hiking shoes, and taking care on uneven terrain.

Trails are for foot traffic only. Stay on the trails and keep out of the park’s vernal pools. Swimming and biking on trails are not allowed.

Pets must be leashed. They are allowed in campgrounds, designated picnic areas, the Loop Trail and the Interpretive Loop, but not on other trails or elevated areas such as the Summit Trail.
