Water conditions and park rules

Check the City’s current guidance before swimming or boating, and follow the rules that apply to the river and dam.

City ordinance prohibits boating, swimming, or bathing in the Llano River above the Llano River Dam within 200 feet of the raw-water basin used for the city’s public water supply. It also prohibits being on or within 10 feet of the dam when flashboards are in place, or tampering with the flashboards.

Fishing is permitted in Llano River Badu Park, while camping is prohibited there. Vehicles may not travel off roadways in the park. Badu Park’s curfew is midnight to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday.

A City water conservation plan advised against swimming in the river at Robison Lake and Town Lake in Badu Park during low-flow conditions because of potential biological growth. Conditions can change, so check the official site before you go.
